Brian M. Guyer is an associate of the Midwest Default Legal Services in the Chicago office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A.’s Business, Financial Services & Real Estate Division. Mr. Guyer represents banks, lenders and mortgage servicers in foreclosure and bankruptcy actions in Illinois and Wisconsin. His practice encompasses handling evictions and eminent domain issues. In addition, Mr. Guyer represents parties in residential real estate transactions including drafting and negotiation offers to purchase and land contracts.

Before joining QPWB, Mr. Guyer was an associate with a default services law firm where he was lead attorney on Wisconsin matters representing mortgage servicers, secured creditors and lenders in bankruptcy and foreclosures including handling defense of counter claims under RESPA and state consumer protection laws. Mr. Guyer’s experience includes securing over 200 settlement claims in the representation of consumers under federal and state consumer protections law including FDCPA, TCPA, and FCRA. He also managed the compliance program of a Chicago law office and as a compliance attorney, negotiated and settled lawsuits under violations of the FDCPA.

Mr. Guyer received his Juris Doctor from Marquette University Law School, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, graduating with a Certificate in Litigation in May 2013; he received a Master of Science, with distinction, in Public Service Management from De Paul University, Chicago in June 2007; and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin in May 2004, majoring in History.

Mr. Guyer is licensed to practice law in Illinois and Wisconsin and is admitted to practice in the district and bankruptcy courts in those states including: the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of Illinois; U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin; U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado; and U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Guyer worked as a research and policy analyst at the Institute for Housing Studies at DePaul University in Chicago. He researched and analyzed housing policy and data to preserve LIHTC, Section 8, and other government subsidized rental housing. He focused primarily on the preservation of affordable rental housing in Cook County, Illinois; working with government agencies such as the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the City of Chicago Department of Community Development to ensure compliance with University procurement, budgeting, and human resource policies.
