Daniel Moriarty is a partner in the Louisville office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. He has extensive knowledge with post-acute care in a wide variety of disciplines, with emphasis on risk management, litigation and claims management, alternative dispute resolution, mediation and trials. His experience also includes regulatory, compliance and risk management investigations and issues pertaining to liability exposure and litigation strategy.
Prior to joining QPWB, Mr. Moriarty was Vice President of Risk Management at Kindred Healthcare in Louisville, Kentucky, where for 14 years he handled litigation and claims management for the long-term care industry and multiple areas of healthcare law including compliance and risk management, requiring expert negotiation skills and the ability to interpret contract language and interpret and analyze laws in all 50 states. He was also Vice President and Counsel of Liability Claims where he assessed risks through investigation, analysis and resolution of liability claims and medical malpractice litigation. His practice focused on negotiating settlement of complex litigation claims for nursing homes, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, home health and hospice services. He represented corporations at mediations, arbitrations and in jury trials across the nation.
During the late 1990s he was Professional Liability Claims Counsel for Harvard Risk Management Foundation (CRICO) responsible for the investigation and resolution of medical malpractice and general liability claims against Harvard University, Harvard Medical School and all Harvard-affiliated hospitals, physicians/clinicians, HMOs and Harvard member institutions.
Mr. Moriarty received his Juris Doctor from Massachusetts School of Law in 1995 and Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of Massachusetts in 1990.
Mr. Moriarty is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts. He is not licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
He served as a volunteer of the United States Peace Corps in the Republic of the Marshall Islands, working as sole representative of a small island chain in the North Pacific, primarily teaching English and overseeing and directing project accounting and grant writing.
