Amanda S. Smiley is a partner in the Charlotte office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. She specializes in workers' compensation defense, handling cases at all levels before the Industrial Commission and the North Carolina Court of Appeals. Ms. Smiley brings extensive experience to the table, skillfully managing motions, hearings, mediations, settlement negotiations, and excelling in brief writing and Full Commission oral arguments.
As a frequent lecturer on the North Carolina Workers' Compensation Act, Ms. Smiley has presented on various topics including the 2011 amendments to the Act, suitable employment issues, and best practices in adjusting claims headed toward litigation.
Ms. Smiley is a Vanderbilt University alumna, earning her Juris Doctor with honors in 2007. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in history, cum laude from the University of Evansville, received in 2004.
Licensed to practice law in North Carolina and admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, Ms. Smiley is an active member of the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys, the North Carolina Bar Association, and Phi Delta Phi. She is the former Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary/Treasurer, and Community Services Committee former Chair of the Mecklenburg County Bar, Young Lawyers Division, Board of Directors from 2013-2014.
