Amanda Wilson Speier is a partner in the Atlanta office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. With nearly two decades of defense litigation experience, Ms. Speier has dedicated her legal career to the representation of healthcare providers. Ms. Speier possesses an intricate knowledge of hospital processes and hospital medicine, and specializes in complex cases involving multiple providers. Ms. Speier not only defends the medicine and the standard of care, but she also frequently defends abuse and catastrophic injury cases.
Throughout her career, Ms. Speier has represented diverse healthcare providers, including hospitals, physicians, nurses, and mid-level providers in matters ranging from professional liability to premises defense to contract and billing disputes. Beyond litigation, Ms. Speier advises providers in responding to complaints and investigations by the state licensing boards. She also assists clients with risk management needs and day-to-day patient care questions. Ms. Speier's understanding of the healthcare regulatory environment, including issues of privilege, HIPAA and EMTALA, informs all of her legal work.
She joins QPWB following her tenure as a partner at a large, full-service Atlanta firm. Her professional background also includes serving as the Director of Risk Management for a large metro-Atlanta health system, an experience that informs her current role as outside counsel for healthcare clients. She is a frequent speaker on healthcare liability and litigation topics, and an active member of the Georgia Society of Healthcare Risk Management.
Ms. Speier is licensed to practice law in Georgia. She is also admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Georgia, the Court of Appeals of Georgia, and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Georgia.
