Andrew C. Schuh and The Law Offices of Andrew C. Schuh, PLLC are Of Counsel to Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. and handle legal matters for the firm's clients in California and Washington State.  Mr. Schuh is admitted to practice in California, Washington State, and the District of Columbia.  Mr. Schuh is an expert in the areas of patient/resident care litigation in the elder care space including skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and all types of medical related professional liability litigation.

Mr. Schuh began practicing medical malpractice defense and elder abuse defense litigation in California immediately upon graduation from University of Arizona College of Law in 1996.  He practiced with the largest and most prominent firms in California doing this type of work until he was recruited by Sun Healthcare Group, Inc. in 2003 to join their legal department in Irvine, California.

Sun was a publicly traded, diversified healthcare company with nationwide operations, over 30,000 employees and annual revenue of approximately $2 billion.  Sun's portfolio included acute care, behavioral health, assisted living, independent living and skilled nursing facilities.  In addition, Sun provided care to patients through hospice, home health, rehabilitation therapy and temporary medical staffing subsidiaries of the company.  Initially, Mr. Schuh worked for Sun as Corporate Counsel for Litigation.  In that capacity, Mr. Schuh managed healthcare and elder care litigation cases in a 13-state territory.

After two years as Corporate Counsel, Mr. Schuh was promoted to Assistant General Counsel (AGC).  As AGC, Mr. Schuh led the team with responsibility for all litigation nationwide for the company and its subsidiaries and also added regulatory, compliance, employment law, and human resource issues to his responsibilities.  In addition, he became an advisor to senior management and the board of directors.

Mr. Schuh's experience greatly expanded during his 7 years as AGC.  He managed a nationwide panel of outside counsel including fee arrangements, e-billing, budget management, case management, e-discovery, and litigation hold processes.  He was one of the authors of the annual quality report and provided protection for privileged corporate integrity agreement documentation in litigation.  Mr. Schuh participated in response teams for investigations and surveys performed by various regulatory agencies.  In addition, he provided advice on corporate structure, re-branding, de-branding, and other corporate issues.  Mr. Schuh led company efforts on legislation, tort reform, and lobbying.  He also was a leader of the crisis response team and media response team with responsibility for drafting press releases and talking points directed to residents and families, staff, the media, and referral sources. Mr. Schuh also led multidisciplinary teams to drive company-wide education and process improvement initiatives and was a member of the merger and acquisition due diligence team.

Mr. Schuh returned to his home in Washington State to be near extended family after Sun Healthcare Group, Inc. was acquired by Genesis Healthcare, LLC.  Following his return, he opened his own practice where he continues to provide healthcare related services to clients in both Washington and California.
