Angelica B. Compas is a partner in the Fort Lauderdale office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. Her legal expertise is centered on insurance defense, providing guidance and counsel for first and third-party property suits, risk litigation, medical malpractice defense, professional malpractice defense, and personal injury cases to leading insurance carriers.
Ms. Compas specializes in representing insureds, plumbers, chiropractic and other clinics, general contractors, and public adjusters in Personal Injury Protection (PIP) suits against insurance companies. She has successfully argued various motions, conducted depositions of corporate representatives, insureds, and treating physicians, participated in mediations throughout the tri-county area, and attended pre-trial conferences. Furthermore, she reviews and evaluates cases and lawsuits, conducts research, provides legal advice and counsel, and keeps the assigned corporate representative informed throughout the file's lifecycle.
Early in her legal career, Ms. Compas played a pivotal role in drafting complaints and pleadings for first and third-party homeowner's insurance claims. She also contributed her skills to crafting essential legal correspondence for an estate planning, trusts, and probate firm. Her responsibilities extended to liaising with creditors of deceased individuals and actively participating in the intricate process of estate distribution.
In 2014, Ms. Compas obtained her Juris Doctor from Florida International University, College of Law, and previously, in 2009, earned a Bachelor of Arts with a major in history and a minor in political science from Duke University. During her time in law school, Ms. Compas embarked on a journey of international legal experience as a law student at the East China University of Politics & Law in Shanghai, China, where she received a certification in Chinese legal studies.
Ms. Compas is licensed to practice law in Florida and is fluent in Haitian-Creole.
