Annabel Leiva is an associate in the Miami office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A., where she handles all phases of civil litigation, from case inception through resolution, including investigations, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation. Ms. Leiva focuses her practice on civil litigation, personal injury defense, general liability, automotive liability, premises liability, and first-party property defense, as well as bankruptcy, creditors' rights and workouts, and immigration law.
Prior to joining QPWB, Ms. Leiva worked as an associate attorney at a Florida civil defense firm, representing insurance companies, corporations, and self-insured entities against bodily injury and general negligence claims. Her extensive background includes evaluating liability and damages to provide detailed risk assessments, drafting complex dispositive motions, and conducting depositions of parties, corporate representatives, and expert witnesses. She has successfully resolved numerous high-exposure cases pre-trial through mediations and settlement conferences.
Ms. Leiva's broad litigation background also extends to first-party property insurance disputes, civil defense, bankruptcy, and federal practice, where she is admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. Additionally, she has seasoned experience navigating corporate administrative operations and federal immigration frameworks, including representing clients in immigration court and handling complex visa filings.
Her foundation in the South Florida legal community includes valuable public sector experience, having served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Antonio Arzola in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, conducting legal research and drafting memoranda, and spending time as an intern with the Victim Witness Unit of the State Attorney's Office. Additionally, she brings a comprehensive, ground-up understanding of law firm operations to her practice; prior to becoming an attorney, she gained extensive hands-on experience across multiple angles of the legal system, serving as a PIP paralegal, a law office manager and legal assistant, and an administrative manager.
In 2016, she earned her Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law, and she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a minor in International Relations, from Florida International University (2009). She is fluent in Spanish, which enhances her ability to serve a diverse client base.
Ms. Leiva is licensed to practice law in Florida and is admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.
