Belayne D. Guerrero is of counsel to the Fort Lauderdale and Orlando offices of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. She concentrates her practice in the areas of insurance defense, first-party property claims, insurance coverage and bad faith litigation, and declaratory judgment actions. Ms. Guerrero has extensive experience defending personal injury protection claims (PIP) and handling medical benefits matters. Over the course of her career, she has practiced as lead attorney in numerous jury and bench trials.
Prior to joining QPWB, Ms. Guerrero was a partner with a regional law firm representing major U.S. insurance carriers in first and third party coverage claims. In addition to representing personal injury cases, Ms. Guerrero has handled civil litigation, including contract disputes, workers' compensation defense and has represented claims under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) before federal court.
Ms. Guerrero also practiced as a criminal trial attorney with a Miami law office specializing in DUI defenses. As lead and second-chair attorney, she worked closely with medical doctors, toxicologists, law enforcement officials, as well as other defense expert witnesses in preparation for trial.
Ms. Guerrero served as an assistant public defender with the Broward County Public Defender's office. She represented individuals charged with misdemeanor and felony offenses and participated in jury and bench trials as lead attorney.
She received her Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law, Gulfport, Florida in December 2005 and Bachelor of Arts summa cum laude from St. Thomas University in Miami in 2001, graduating with a major in criminal justice. While in law school, she achieved Dean's List honors and awarded Best Appellate Brief, Research & Writing.
Ms. Guerrero is licensed to practice law in Florida. She is a member of The Florida Bar and is admitted in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. She is fluent in Spanish.
