Brandon C.R. Sword is a partner in the Louisville, Kentucky office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. He practices in the areas of general liability defense and defense of healthcare providers. Mr. Sword also represents insurers in insurance coverage, extra-contractual and bad faith litigation.

Prior to joining QPWB, Mr. Sword worked privately as a civil litigation attorney managing cases involving liability claims, employment law, workers' compensation, estate and decedents law, family law matters and contract issues.  

Mr. Sword received his Juris Doctor magna cum laude from University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, Louisville, Kentucky in May 2017 and Bachelor of Arts and Sciences from the University of Louisville in May 2013, graduating with a major in justice administration.  During law school, he served as a legal extern to the American Civil Liberties Union of Kentucky investigating claims of civil liberty violations including free speech, equal protection and employment violations.  He also held a legal externship with the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy where he worked on the Kentucky Innocence Project researching criminal law cases.  He wrote for the Courier Journal and was a student member of the University of Louisville Law Review, Vol. 54 and 55, the University of Louisville Veteran's Advocacy Organization, Diversity Forum for the Brandeis School of Law, Federalist Society and served as the vice president of the ACLU Kentucky Chapter of the Brandeis School of Law.  Additionally, he received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award.

As part of the United States Army, Mr. Sword received a Purple Heart and served as a team leader in various positions within the Department of Defense for three years where he commanded groups throughout Iraq conducting counterterrorism and counterinsurgent operations within combat zones.  His training included airborne mechanics, marksmanship, first aid, communications and qualification as an expert in forty categories associated with infantry operations.

Some of his military awards include: Army Commendation Medal with V Device, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon 2nd Award, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge and Parachutist Badge. 

Mr. Sword is licensed to practice law in Kentucky.  He serves on the executive committee of the Kentucky Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division as its second Supreme Court Division representative and is a member of the American Bar Association.

In his community, he has worked for 10 years as a volunteer and leader to Doing Our Part from the Heart and to Clean - Up Okolona in Louisville, Kentucky.
