David Scott Thompson is a partner in the Atlanta Hub of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A., with over 20 years of litigation experience across Georgia's state and federal courts. His practice focuses on general liability defense, catastrophic personal injury claims, premises liability, trucking and transportation matters, and complex workers' compensation litigation. He has handled thousands of cases over the course of his career, managing everything from routine insurance disputes to high-exposure, multi-party litigation.

Mr. Thompson is recognized for his comprehensive case management skills, often taking a file from pre-suit investigation through trial or resolution. He has tried cases at every level, from State and Superior Courts, and the Georgia Courts of Appeals and Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits, as well as all levels of the Georgia State Board of Workers' Compensation.  His litigation style combines practical risk assessment with a deep understanding of procedural strategy, making him a trusted partner for clients navigating complex legal and regulatory environments.

Before joining QPWB, Mr. Thompson founded and operated a successful litigation firm for over a decade, representing both plaintiffs and defendants across a wide range of legal matters, including personal injury, workers' compensation, and employment law. He also defended uninsured employers throughout Georgia in administrative hearings and settlement proceedings. This entrepreneurial chapter of his career sharpened his skills in negotiation, case valuation, and client communication, earning him a reputation for being both results-driven and client-focused.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Thompson served as senior litigation counsel at several regional firms where he oversaw high-volume insurance defense and workers' compensation defense claims and cases. He worked closely with medical experts, treating physicians, and vocational specialists to evaluate catastrophic claims and routinely conducted depositions of claimants and expert witnesses. His courtroom experience encompasses a wide range of activities, including evidentiary hearings, dispositive motion practice, jury trials, and appellate advocacy.

Having managed litigation teams of attorneys, paralegals, and support staff, Mr. Thompson ensures timely case resolution. He is deeply familiar with the expectations of insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and corporate clients. He provides detailed updates and actionable litigation plans designed to mitigate risk and control costs. His ability to collaborate while advancing case objectives has made him a reliable choice for long-term client partnerships.

In 2004, he earned his Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law, where he was a Dean's List honoree and Moot Court Finalist. He received his Bachelor of Science in Commerce, with distinction, from the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce.

Mr. Thompson is admitted to practice in all Georgia state and appellate courts, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits.

Outside of his practice, Mr. Thompson contributes to his community through leadership and service roles, including as a past president of the UVA Club of Atlanta. He is currently on the Board of his Homeowners Association.  He also serves as an usher team co-captain at the Cathedral of St. Philip.
