Doris M. Torres is a partner in the Miami office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A., she focuses her practice on commercial litigation and insurance defense in the representation insureds, self-insureds, insurance carriers, and third party administrators involving first-party property claims, insurance coverage issues, extra contractual matters and bad faith litigation. Her practice is emphasized in the areas of general liability, personal injury and casualty claims, catastrophic injuries, wrongful death matters, motor vehicle negligence, premise liability, negligent security, slip and falls, product liability, employment law actions, and contract development.

- Represented municipal police departments in the defense of excessive force claims, labor and employment issues, EEOC complaints, arbitration hearings, and contract development review.
- Represented county municipalities on all employment related issues.
- Represented state funded agencies in matters involving wrongful death, negligence and other tortious claims.
- Represented a big-box store in all matters ranging from employment actions to premises liability claims.
- Represented county municipalities in employment discrimination, whistleblower, public record disputes and personal injury matters.
- Represented county municipality on Section 8 housing program noncompliance issues.
- Analyze and draft corporate contracts, insurance policies, lease agreements, elevator agreements, request for proposals, and joint defense agreements.
Her experience as an attorney includes serving as Program Administrator for the Center for Family and Child Enrichment, where she managed legal compliance, served as lead counsel with ongoing litigation, and assisted with commercial lease negotiations, contract development, and development of corporate policies, procedures and programs. She also served as Division Chief of the Office of Criminal Conflict and Regional Counsel, representing clients in family law matters pertaining to dependency issues, termination of parental rights, and handling immigration dependency petitions for unaccompanied minors. Ms. Torres's experience also includes representing toxic-tort class action matters; representing insurance carriers with third party claims and reviewing and drafting employment and service contracts, and memorandums of understanding.
Before attending law school, she was a U.S. Probation Officer with the U.S. District Court in Miami, Florida. She received the highest recognition, the Chief's Award, acknowledging her five years of federal work service. She also worked for the Department of Justice as a Correctional Treatment Specialist.
Ms. Torres received her Juris Doctor from Florida International University College of Law in May 2009; she graduated from Florida International University with a Master of Social Work in August 2003 and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice in August 1995.
Ms. Torres is licensed to practice law in Florida and is a member of The Florida Bar.
