Harry Chipeta Jr. is an associate in the Chicago office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. An accomplished litigator with a diverse background in civil defense, he has represented state agencies, national corporations, and financial institutions in high-exposure matters. His practice spans complex commercial disputes, product liability, civil litigation, class actions, premises liability, asbestos litigation, and appellate practice within state and federal courts.
A hallmark of his professional experience is the ability to manage high-volume, high-stakes caseloads with a focus on strategic discovery and trial advocacy. Prior to joining QPWB, he served as an Assistant Attorney General for the Office of the Illinois Attorney General. In this role, he defended state agencies such as the Department of Corrections and the Department of Transportation in claims involving personal injury, property loss, and Medicaid reimbursement disputes. This tenure in government service was marked by a consistent record of securing favorable settlements and defense verdicts.
His expertise extends significantly into product liability and asbestos litigation. Serving as national coordinating counsel for Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies, he has overseen more than 100 asbestos exposure cases simultaneously from inception through trial. He has successfully argued critical motions in complex multi-state litigation, including Motions to Dismiss for Lack of Personal Jurisdiction and Motions to Compel discovery. Notably, he was a member of the defense team in a high-profile wrongful death/CTE matter, where he managed multifaceted fact discovery involving scientific and medical evidence.
His practice is further distinguished by extensive appellate experience gained during his tenure as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Illinois Appellate Court, First District. In this capacity, he drafted opinions on matters of first impression, including age discrimination and fraudulent transfer claims, and authored numerous orders regarding condominium disputes and matrimonial dissolutions.
Mr. Chipeta earned his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School in 2016, where he served as the Lead Articles Editor for the John Marshall Law Review and received CALI Awards for Excellence in Constitutional Law and Civil Procedure. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Northern Illinois University in 2011.
