Hipolita T. Mata is a partner in the Fort Lauderdale office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A.  She focuses her practice in the areas of insurance defense litigation, first-party property claims stemming from insurance coverage disputes, policy interpretation and the application of policy exclusions arising from a wide variety of insurance products including general liability, premises liability and professional liability. Her practice is also emphasized in third-party liability claims, casualty matters, catastrophic personal injury defense and wrongful death matters, automobile negligence, products liability, construction defect disputes, and negligent security.

Before rejoining QPWB, Ms. Mata was Associate General Counsel for one of the largest home and casualty insurance carriers in the country where she handled first party property trials as first chair trial attorney and represented all aspects of first party matters from pre-suit assessment and evaluation through arbitration, mediation, summary judgments, trial and post-verdict motion practice, and fee hearings.

Previously, Ms. Mata was a litigation associate with a Miami law office representing homeowners and commercial policyholders with insurance dispute claims where she helped secure over a million dollars in coverage through negotiation and settlement, arbitration and litigation. She was also an attorney at a multi-service plaintiff's law firm, she represented insureds both in personal injury claims and third-party insurance litigation pertaining to slip and fall matters, premises liability, and worker's compensation claims. Ms. Mata has also represented medical professionals and health care facilities in the recovery of unpaid and underpaid medical claims.

Ms. Mata received her Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law, Miami, Florida in 2016 and a Bachelor of Arts from Florida International University, graduating with a major in criminal justice. Ms. Mata was recognized with the Pro Bono Commendation Award, acknowledging her dedication to community service and volunteer work. While in law school, she was selected to serve as a judicial intern at the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit of Florida.

Ms. Mata is licensed to practice law in Florida and is admitted in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
