Honey D. Kalkins is a partner in the Tampa office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. Ms. Kalkins is a civil litigation attorney with extensive experience in the areas of insurance defense in both state and federal courts. Her practice is focused in construction defect, professional liability defense and general liability. She represents clients in all phases of the litigation process including motion practice, deposition, discovery, mediation and trial.
Prior to joining QPWB, Ms. Kalkins practiced as an attorney with a commercial litigation law firm in St. Petersburg, Florida; there, she handled insurance defense litigation, personal injury and product liability cases and many aspects of civil litigation including depositions, mediations, trials, and drafted numerous state and federal appellate briefs. Previously, she was an associate attorney with a Tampa law firm. She represented major railroad carriers against claims brought under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act involving the defense of personal injury claims including asbestosis claims, permanency of injuries, retaliatory termination, harassment and fraud. Ms. Kalkins began her legal career in 2003 with the Department of Children and Families in Bartow, Florida representing child protective cases.
Ms. Kalkins received her Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law, Gulfport, Florida in December 2002 and Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude from the University of South Florida in 1998. While in law school, she received the Book Award in Native American Law Seminar. She served as an intern with the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Criminal and Family Divisions and served as a volunteer Guardian ad Litem investigating dependency issues.
Ms. Kalkins is licensed to practice law in Florida. She is a member of The Florida Bar and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. She is also a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association.
