Since 2005, and before joining QPWB, Ms. Ahrens served in-house as Director and liability counsel for the largest diversified post-acute healthcare provider in the U.S. Here, she was responsible for assessing the value of complex, high exposure litigation cases and for negotiating settlement agreements.  In this capacity, she evaluated and assessed risk, and developed and implemented risk mitigation programs.  Previously, for this same employer, she worked with general counsel and New York counsel to resolve bankruptcy issues related to litigation and proof of claims; she also managed over 400 cases for long-term care defendants.  Formerly, Ms. Ahrens was also national counsel for a legal management company handling multi-state complex litigation, where she represented corporate clients and successfully litigated hundreds of cases to conclusion.  Prior to that she was an attorney at a large regional Louisville law firm where she managed complex litigation and mass torts.

Ms. Ahrens is a graduate of the University of Louisville.  She received her Juris Doctor magna cum laude from the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law in 1996, a Master of Science in health system management, and a Bachelor of Science in medical technology.  While in law school, Ms. Ahrens served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Family Law and was named outstanding graduate for the class of 1996.

Ms. Ahrens is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and Massachusetts, and in the State of Rhode Island.  She is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and the Rhode Island Bar Association.  She is also admitted to practice in the Eastern and Western District Courts of Kentucky.
