James S. Holmes is an associate in the Atlanta Hub of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A., bringing a distinctive dual expertise in law and pharmacy to his role. With a background in pharmaceutical sciences and extensive experience in insurance defense litigation, Mr. Holmes provides representation in complex medical malpractice and bodily injury cases.
Defending bodily injury lawsuits from pre-suit investigation through trial, Mr. Holmes focuses his practice on insurance defense, specifically construction litigation, industrial accidents/injuries, trucking and transportation litigation, premises liability claims, product liability claims, maritime personal injury cases across the country, civil rights and § 42 USC 1983 claims, auto accidents, minor settlements, wrongful death settlements, and occasional subrogation work.
Throughout his career, Mr. Holmes has developed significant trial experience, he has successfully defended clients through jury trials, dispositive motion practice, and expert depositions. His experience includes defending clients in cases involving high-risk exposure, such as catastrophic injuries and wrongful death claims, where he has played a critical role in securing favorable verdicts and settlements. Mr. Holmes has managed all aspects of pre-suit investigations, discovery, depositions, and motion practice.
In addition to his trial work, Mr. Holmes has a deep understanding of the complexities of expert retention and testimony, particularly in medically intensive cases. He has worked closely with medical professionals, accident reconstructionists, and industry experts to build compelling defenses in litigation. His ability to analyze intricate medical records and pharmaceutical data allows him to provide thorough and effective representation for healthcare providers, insurers, and businesses facing complex liability claims.
Prior to pursuing law, Mr. Holmes obtained a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) with honors from Samford University's McWhorter School of Pharmacy, equipping him with a deep understanding of medical and pharmaceutical regulations, an asset in defending healthcare professionals and institutions. In 2018, he earned his Juris Doctor from St. Louis University School of Law, where he graduated in the top 18% of his class.
Licensed to practice law in Georgia and Missouri, Mr. Holmes is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri and is in the process of obtaining admission to the Northern District Court of Georgia.
