James G. Snashall is a partner in the New York office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. He represents insurers and insureds in complex general liability and in all aspects of personal injury litigation and casualty claims, premises liability and negligent security claims, motor vehicle accidents, construction-related claims, products liability and civil rights defense matters. His practice is dictated by his clients' needs, and includes general commercial litigation and business torts.
Knowledgeable of both government and law, Mr. Snashall has litigated seven and eight figure exposure cases with a proven track record of success. He has held senior positions with New York State government and has litigated in all five boroughs of the City of New York and in the Southern and Eastern Districts. For 12 years he served as Senior Trial Counsel, Special Litigation Unit of the New York City Office of Corporation Counsel - the department responsible for most of the city's legal affairs - where he handled personal injury and property damage claims, catastrophic injuries, employee injury suits brought under the Jones Act and litigation ranging from excessive police force to roadway design, including high-exposure cases, those valued at $2 million or above handled through vigorous investigation, zealous defense before State and federal courts, and when appropriate, in negotiated settlements. Prior to joining QPWB, Mr. Snashall was the Chief Assistant District Attorney for the Chenango County District Attorney's Office in Norwich, New York; here, he handled felony and misdemeanor cases with the New York State Police, Chenango County Sheriff's Office, Norwich Police and local law enforcement.
Mr. Snashall also served as Assistant District Attorney for Crimes Against Revenue Program (CARP) in the Richmond County District Attorney's Office in Staten Island, the Broome County District Attorney's Office in Binghamton, New York, and Kings County District Attorney's Office in Brooklyn. In addition to conducting felony trials and over 300 successful felony grand jury presentations, Mr. Snashall, in partnership with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, investigated tax fraud and prosecuted over 150 financial crimes. He also served the New York City Department of Finance as an Administrative Law Judge.
Mr. Snashall served as senior counsel for an insurance defense law firm in New York City representing insureds and insurance carriers and participating as lead defense chair and second defense chair counsel on various personal injury litigation. He also was vice president and general counsel of JP Morgan Chase Bank, New York, handling multi-state lender liability and mortgage liability claims involving the Truth In Lending Act (TILA), the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), the Home Ownership Equity Protection Act (HOEPA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and various state consumer protection regulations.
Mr. Snashall received his Juris Doctor from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law and Bachelor of Arts, with honors, from the State University of New York at Binghamton. During law school, he served as a member of the Moot Court's Board of Directors.
He is licensed to practice law in New York.
