Janis H. LaBorde is a partner in the Atlanta office at Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. Her legal practice draws on more than 23 years' experience in complex commercial litigation with emphasis on defending all types of claims from initial filing to trial, mediation, settlement and appeal. She is a certified general civil mediator. Her practice involves the areas of insurance defense and coverage matters, general liability, personal injury defense, labor and employment, intellectual property, product liability, premises liability, workers' compensation, breach of contract, leases and assignments. Ms. LaBorde's practice involves working with experts regarding business, tax strategy, liability, product, technical issues, and negotiating settlements. Previously, and for 14 years, Ms. LaBorde managed all aspects of her solo law practice in Atlanta, Georgia. Her practice focused on workers' compensation, personal injury, and premises liability claims, including catastrophic injuries and wrongful death matters. In addition, Ms. LaBorde was a frequent lecturer on various continuing legal education subjects for Georgia attorneys practicing workers' compensation. She commenced private practice in 2003 with an insurance defense law firm in Marietta, Georgia. Prior to joining QPWB, she was a litigation attorney with a Georgia-based law firm representing high-growth, closely held companies as outside general counsel in labor and employment matters, intellectual property, products liability, premises liability and general commercial litigation.
Ms. LaBorde received her Juris Doctor cum laude from Southern University Law Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 2000, a Bachelor of Arts in English Education from Southern Louisiana University in 1992, an Executive Master of Law in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center in 2019 and awarded General Civil Mediation Certification from Kennesaw State University, Center for Conflict Management in 2018.
She is licensed to practice law in Georgia and is admitted in the U.S. District Court for the Middle and Northern Districts of Georgia, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, Supreme Court of Georgia, Georgia Court of Appeals, and the Trial Bar for the Northern District of Illinois.
