Joan E. Mason is an associate in the Miami office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. Ms. Mason focuses her practice in the areas of first party property claims under commercial and homeowner policies stemming from insurance coverage disputes, policy interpretation, and the application of policy exclusion arising from a variety of insurance products including general liability, motor vehicle liability, and premises liability.
Prior to joining QPWB, Ms. Mason practiced with various Miami law offices handling first-party property disputes where she conducted discovery involving bodily injury and personal injury protection (PIP) actions.
Ms. Mason received her Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law in May 2017 and Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from The University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica in May 2013. While in law school, she was selected to serve as a professor’s intern for the Professional Ethics and Responsibility Program conducting CLE trainings for attorneys across South Florida. She was elected President of the Association of Caribbean Law Students.
During law school, Ms. Mason also served as a certified legal intern with the Miami Dade Public Defender’s Office, County Court Division, where she managed a caseload of 200 cases through all phases of litigation, negotiated pleas and mitigation with prosecutors, and first-chaired as defense counsel in a jury trial.
Ms. Mason is licensed to practice law in Florida and is admitted in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
