Joel D. Groenewold is a senior partner in the Chicago and Milwaukee Hubs of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A., where his litigation practice spans commercial and real estate litigation, transportation and railroad matters, premises and product liability, medical malpractice defense, municipal liability, and general insurance defense, and EV/lithium-ion battery related litigation. With more than 75 jury trials to verdict in Illinois and experience across state and federal courts in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Kansas, Mr. Groenewold is known for his courtroom presence and consistent track record.
He represents a wide range of clients, including national transportation carriers, regional trucking companies, grocery chains, shopping centers, restaurants, and construction entities. Mr. Groenewold frequently defends complex, high-profile cases involving transportation accidents, railroad incidents, and general negligence claims. His trial experience also includes a significant number of premises liability cases tried to verdict on behalf of Midwestern retail establishments and national commercial clients.
In addition to litigation, Mr. Groenewold counsels clients on a broad spectrum of matters including risk management, regulatory compliance, contractual disputes, and employment concerns. He provides strategic legal guidance to corporate clients ranging from commercial landlords and national restaurant chains to automobile auction houses. Frequently called upon to step into transferred matters, last-minute trials, or excess liability cases, Mr. Groenewold is valued for his ability to deliver results under pressure.
Licensed in Illinois and Wisconsin, Mr. Groenewold is admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Central, Southern Districts of Illinois, US District Courts in the Northern District of Indiana, as well as the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin.
