Johanna Berta is a partner in the San Francisco Bay office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. Ms. Berta maintains a versatile practice that bridges high-stakes litigation and sophisticated transactional matters. She focuses her practice on professional liability defense, insurance coverage, labor and employment law, construction litigation, and cybersecurity.
In her litigation practice, Ms. Berta represents individual and commercial defendants across a broad spectrum of disputes, including construction defects, personal injury, property disagreements, and complex business and contract litigation. She provides comprehensive counsel from pre-litigation evaluation and risk analysis through trial, arbitration, and mediation. Her expertise in construction law extends to handling accidents and defects while providing strategic interpretation of construction contracts.
On the transactional side, Ms. Berta serves as a strategic advisor to clients navigating corporate management and risk avoidance. She is highly experienced in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide array of agreements, including intellectual property ownership, vendor and sub consultant contracts, and professional service agreements. Furthermore, she assists organizations with operational compliance by developing robust employment manuals and Injury and Illness Prevention Programs (IIPPs).
Ms. Berta earned her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Davis School of Law in 2002 and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of San Francisco in 1995.
She is licensed to practice law in California and Pennsylvania and is admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, and Central Districts of California, as well as the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
