Johnathan C. Ryan is an associate in the Louisville office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A., where he specializes in general litigation, with a primary focus in the defense of long-term care and acute-care facilities and medical professionals. His practice also includes matters relating to creditors' rights and consumer and commercial collections.
Throughout his career, Mr. Ryan has taken a lead role in representing large and small financial institutions, insurance companies, and municipalities in both the prosecution and defense of claims relating to creditors' rights, consumer and commercial collections, tax delinquencies, and insurance subrogation. He has successfully represented clients in both Kentucky and Georgia, demonstrating his ability to effectively serve clients in different jurisdictions.
Notably, Mr. Ryan has defended counterclaims brought under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Kentucky Consumer Protection Act, Kentucky Financial Services Code, and various state consumer protection laws. In his prior position and while in solo practice, Mr. Ryan offered specialized guidance to individuals regarding estate planning and probate matters. Through active networking, he has cultivated mutual referral sources, demonstrating his robust connections within the legal and business spheres.
During his time as an Assistant County Attorney for the Jefferson County, KY Attorney's Office, he successfully prosecuted numerous cases through trial work and plea-bargain agreements. He also conducted trials in this role to determine the necessity of financial and/or healthcare guardianship when such petitions were filed, as required under Kentucky law.
Mr. Ryan earned his Juris Doctor from The Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville in 2012, and his Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University-Bloomington in 2003.
He is licensed to practice law in Kentucky and Georgia and is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, State Bar of Georgia, and National Creditors Bar Association.
