Jordan S. Edelman is a senior partner in the Chicago Hub of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. Mr. Edleman's practice focuses on the defense of complex civil litigation matters, including construction negligence and defect claims, professional liability, premises liability, transportation and trucking litigation, long-term care defense, civil rights disputes, and subrogation matters. He also represents correctional facilities, public agencies, and their officers in Section 1983 claims, coverage disputes, and constitutional matters.
With extensive courtroom experience, Mr. Edelman has successfully tried numerous cases to verdict as lead counsel and regularly appears before Illinois state and federal courts, including each United States District Court within the state. He has briefed matters before the Illinois Appellate Court and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and is equally experienced in mediation and arbitration, achieving the best possible outcomes for clients throughout Illinois.
Mr. Edelman is a frequent speaker on topics such as negligence, claims handling, ethics, and state-specific litigation trends. He has presented CLE seminars for both legal professionals and insurance carriers. His has been recognized by his peers through repeated selections to the Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Stars list.
During law school, Mr. Edelman served as a judicial intern to The Honorable Marvin E. Aspen in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, where he contributed to opinions addressing Title VII and Civil Rights Act claims. He also gained early trial experience with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, Felony Trials Division. At Loyola University Chicago School of Law, he served as an editor for the Loyola International Law Review and was an oralist on the ABA Moot Court Team.
Mr. Edelman is admitted to practice in the State of Illinois and before the United States District Courts for the Northern, Central, and Southern Districts of Illinois, as well as the District of Nebraska. His admissions across multiple jurisdictions allow him to effectively represent clients in both state and federal courts, handling complex litigation matters throughout the Midwest.

Representative Trial Cases:
- Defense Verdict - Disputed Liability Auto Claim: Mr. Edelman successfully obtained a defense verdict in an automobile negligence case involving a significant intersection collision. The plaintiff alleged that Mr. Edelman's client illegally entered the intersection, causing the crash. Through strategic motion work, he barred the plaintiff's wage loss and permanency claims and, at trial, used impeachment to undermine the plaintiff's version of events. The jury returned a verdict in favor of the defense.
- Defense Verdict - Intersection Collision Claim: In a recent Cook County trial, Mr. Edelman secured a defense verdict in a claim involving a broadside collision at a major intersection. The plaintiff alleged he had completed his turn prior to impact. During cross-examination, Mr. Edelman elicited admissions that shifted the liability back to the plaintiff. The jury deliberated for less than fifteen minutes before returning a verdict in favor of his client.
- Summary Judgment - Premises Liability: Mr. Edelman obtained summary judgment on behalf of a national grocery store chain in a Cook County slip-and-fall case. Plaintiff alleged injury due to a foreign substance left on the floor. Surveillance footage showed the substance had been dropped only 43 seconds before the fall. Mr. Edelman successfully argued that the store lacked both actual and constructive notice, eliminating any duty to act. The court granted summary judgment in favor of the defense.
- Defense Verdict - Slip-and-Fall Premises Claim: Mr. Edelman served as lead trial counsel in a case where the plaintiff sought $869,000 after allegedly sustaining serious injuries from a fall on ice and snow outside an auto shop. Mr. Edelman challenged the claimed injury severity and pointed out inconsistencies in the plaintiff's post-incident statements. The jury returned a not-guilty verdict, despite the plaintiff claiming over $200,000 in medical expenses.
- Defense Verdict - Trucking Liability with Complex Medical Issues: Mr. Edelman represented a garbage truck driver involved in a collision with a disabled vehicle following an earlier accident. The plaintiff alleged a traumatic brain injury and aggravation of pre-existing conditions. Mr. Edelman argued that the injuries could not be directly attributed to his client's actions and presented post-incident MRI evidence showing no signs of head trauma. The jury returned a defense verdict despite a $1.5 million demand.
- Dismissal with Prejudice - Legal Malpractice Action: Mr. Edelman defended a legal malpractice claim involving allegations of negligent handling and concealment of a disputed workers' compensation settlement. He filed a successful motion for summary judgment, establishing that the claim had previously been dismissed by federal court and was now barred under res judicata. The court dismissed the action with prejudice, bringing a close to litigation that spanned five years, three states, and multiple jurisdictions.
