Jose I. Rivera is an associate in the Reno office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. His primary focus is on civil litigation, specializing in personal injury, premises liability defense, contractual disputes, and business litigation. In addition to his proficiency in bankruptcy and creditors' rights, he also navigates the realms of governmental and legislative affairs, along with immigration matters.
Beyond litigation, Mr. Rivera extends his expertise to assist clients in business formation, covering EIN acquisition, Secretary of State filings, Nevada Department of Taxation applications, and local licensing. His skills further expand to drafting and reviewing contracts, that involve operating agreements, leases, share purchase agreements, employment agreements, promissory notes, trusts, and investor agreements. From prelitigation tasks to vehicle inspections, depositions, motion work, and arbitration, he ensures comprehensive support for his clients.
In the initial phase of his legal journey, Mr. Rivera managed a spectrum of bankruptcy matters, encompassing tasks such as petitions, amendments, motions, and the submission of proposed orders through the Bankruptcy CM/ECF website. Particularly noteworthy is his service in the Bankruptcy Unit at the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, where he garnered valuable experience overseeing cases for pro-bono placements.
Mr. Rivera earned his Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and his Juris Doctorate from the William S. Boyd School of Law, where he concentrated on Health Law. During his law school tenure, he collaborated with state legislators as a legislative extern for the Nevada Hispanic Legislative Caucus.
Mr. Rivera speaks, reads, and writes Spanish fluently and occasionally represents and translates for Spanish-speaking clients.
He is licensed to practice law in Nevada.
