Jossie Viera is an associate in the Miami Hub of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. Ms. Viera represents insurers and insureds in civil litigation with a strong focus on general liability and automobile claims, along with insurance coverage disputes. Her practice includes handling bodily injury, property damage, and motor vehicle accident matters, as well as breach of contract, extra-contractual liability, and bad faith disputes. She brings nearly a decade of courtroom experience, supported by a deep background in complex litigation, motion practice, and high-stakes insurance matters. Her work is rooted in strategic case management, clear communication, and an ability to simplify dense issues for clients navigating challenging disputes.
Her litigation experience is extensive. She has represented clients in state and federal courts, managed large and diverse caseloads, handled all phases of discovery, and argued a wide range of motions, including dispositive motions that successfully resolved cases and set favorable precedent. She has conducted and defended fact and expert depositions, drafted Daubert and in limine motions, prepared cases for trial, and played a key role in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations. Ms. Viera has also drafted numerous pleadings, memoranda, jury instructions, verdict forms, and settlement agreements, including matters involving parallel litigation and potential bad-faith exposure.
Her earlier work includes several years as a senior attorney advocating for the State of Florida in dependency and termination of parental rights proceedings. In that role, she led litigation under Chapter 39, handled trials and motion practice, reviewed medical records and investigative files, and collaborated closely with case management agencies to protect the best interest of children. She also gained judicial insight through internships with the Eleventh Judicial Circuit and the Florida Third District Court of Appeal, where she drafted memoranda, analyzed case files, and observed complex proceedings first-hand. Her broad foundation also includes hands-on experience through FIU's Family and Education Law Clinic and early legal support roles in private practice.
Ms. Viera earned her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Florida International University College of Law, graduating in the top 10% of her class. She served on the FIU Law Review and received multiple C.A.L.I. Excellence Awards in subjects including Evidence, Administrative Law, and Florida Constitutional Law. She also conducted legal studies at Universidad de la Habana, Facultad de Derecho. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Florida International University and an Associate in Arts in Criminal Justice from Broward College, both completed with the highest academic honors.
Licensed to practice in the State of Florida, Ms. Viera is also admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
Fluent in English and Spanish, Ms. Viera brings multilingual approach to her practice, working seamlessly in two languages to overcome cultural, linguistic, and technological barriers.
