Kanika Basawatia is an associate in the Orlando Hub of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. Drawing on her diverse background and extensive professional experience, she focuses her practice on civil litigation, family law, and insurance defense.
Ms. Basawatia graduated cum laude from Barry University, Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law, where she also earned a Family Law Honors Certification. During law school, she served as a Judicial Intern to the Honorable Judge Barbara J. Leach in Florida's Ninth Judicial Circuit, conducting detailed legal research and drafting bench memoranda on complex issues, including international Hague Convention matters. Her academic journey began in Nepal at Apex College, Pokhara University, where she earned a Bachelor of Computer Information Systems in 2009 and a Master of Business Administration in 2013.
Licensed to practice law in Florida, Ms. Basawatia applies her entrepreneurial acumen gained as the founder and marketing manager of Bhoj, a pioneering food application platform that connected over 300 restaurants with customers in Kathmandu, Nepal. This experience honed her business insights and leadership skills, which she now brings to her legal practice.
Fluent in multiple languages, Ms. Basawatia offers a global perspective and cultural sensitivity in her approach to legal matters. She is also dedicated to giving back to her community, shown through her volunteer work with the Orange County Bar Association, where she conducted client intake interviews to help individuals access legal resources.
