Karen M. Harmeling is an associate in the Los Angeles office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. With over 25 years of strategic litigation experience, Ms. Harmeling is recognized as an enterprising and highly accomplished attorney.  

Her practice focuses on civil defense, insurance defense, premises liability, trucking and transportation, construction defects, and business and commercial litigation. During her tenure as in-house counsel for a national insurance company, Ms. Harmeling managed a diverse caseload, defending clients in various areas including premises liability, automobile liability, uninsured/underinsured motorist, and property damage cases. She has a strong track record of handling cases from inception through trial, showcasing her comprehensive understanding of litigation strategies and procedures. 

Ms. Harmeling also has extensive experience in representing business owners and companies in insurance defense matters. Her skills shine when developing and implementing litigation, discovery, settlement, and trial strategies tailored to the unique needs of her clients. 

Throughout her career, Ms. Harmeling has successfully navigated large and complex caseloads involving civil law defense for public entities, business owners, homeowners, and individuals. Her areas of expertise include premises liability, property disputes, toxic tort, construction defects, and automobile liability cases. She has demonstrated her proficiency by first-chairing and defending hundreds of depositions, including parties, witnesses, and experts. Additionally, Ms. Harmeling has a proven record of preparing and arguing dispositive motions to secure defense judgments for her clients. 

Ms. Harmeling earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, in Sacramento, CA, where she was honored with the American Jurisprudence Award in Business Planning. Before attending law school, she graduated with honors, from the University of California - San Diego, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. 

Licensed to practice law in California and Texas (Inactive), Ms. Harmeling is admitted to the U.S. District Court of the Eastern and Central Districts of California and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas.
