Kevin J. Plagens is a senior partner in the Farmington Hills Hub of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. Mr. Plagens is a seasoned trial attorney with a reputation for tackling complex insurance defense matters across a broad range of industries. He has built his career on delivering results in the courtroom, with a litigation practice that spans a wide range of complex matters. He routinely handles cases involving automobile accident defense, transportation litigation, product and professional liability, municipal law, and employment practices liability.
With a perfect record in the Michigan Court of Appeals, Mr. Plagens is known for his sharp and effective appellate arguments. Early in his career, he successfully argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, which is a rare accomplishment that continues to set the tone for his results-driven practice. His work also extends to real estate errors and omissions, wrongful death defense, dram shop actions, PIP and UM/UIM claims, coverage disputes, and high-exposure premises liability matters.
Outside of traditional litigation, Mr. Plagens coordinates emergency response for transportation incidents and handles significant claims for national fleet operators under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act. He frequently lectures on Michigan no-fault law, third-party auto negligence, professional liability, and landlord-tenant legal issues, and provides legal updates to professional groups including the American Society of Home Inspectors and the National Society of Home Inspectors.
Mr. Plagens started his academic journey at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, earning a Bachelor of Arts before obtaining his Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing.
He is admitted to practice in Michigan, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He also serves as a court-appointed mediator and case evaluator in both Wayne and Oakland Counties.

Representative Cases:
- Mr. Plagens recently handled a case wherein the insured was intoxicated when she rearended the plaintiff's vehicle. He admitted liability but the court refused to keep from the jury the details of the insured's intoxication. This case was valued at $80,000 at case evaluation. The plaintiffs sought $200,000. The jury awarded one plaintiff nothing and the other plaintiff $6,500.
