Kimberly Slay is a partner in the National Products Liability and Toxic Tort Practice Group of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. With over 30 years of trial and advisory experience, Ms. Slay is a distinguished litigator who represents corporate clients, manufacturers, and institutions in high-stakes liability matters. Her practice centers in toxic tort, products liability, commercial litigation, tax controversy litigation, administrative law, and governmental and legislative affairs.
Ms. Slay's extensive litigation background spans both private practice and senior executive leadership roles within state government. Prior to joining QPWB, she counseled corporate entities across a broad array of industries, including mining, maritime, insurance, media, and general commercial sectors, guiding clients through high-exposure tort actions, risk management, and intricate multi-jurisdictional disputes. As a trial lawyer, she is known for her meticulous case preparation and persuasive courtroom advocacy in state and federal forums.
In addition to her private practice experience, Ms. Slay brings a deep understanding of administrative law and statutory compliance from her high-level government service. She previously served as General Counsel and Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor of Minnesota, as well as Assistant Commissioner of Administrative Law and Compliance for the Minnesota Department of Revenue. Earlier in her career, she served as Chief Tax Legal Officer and Assistant Secretary over the Office of Legal Affairs for the Louisiana Department of Revenue, supervising statewide tax litigation, and litigated tort liability and commercial cases as an Assistant Attorney General for the Louisiana Department of Justice.
Beyond her litigation practice, Ms. Slay has made significant contributions to legal education. She served as a Visiting Professor at the Mitchell Hamline School of Law and spent over six years as a Professor of Law and Managing Attorney of the Clinical Law Program at Southern University Law Center, where she trained law students in trial skills, deposition strategy, and courtroom advocacy.
Ms. Slay earned her Juris Doctor from Southern University Law Center and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from Drake University.
She is licensed to practice law in New York and Minnesota.
