Lucas Bernardo is an associate in the Miami office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. His expertise lies in insurance defense litigation, with a focus on first-party residential and commercial property insurance defense, third-party general liability claims, construction defect liability, and automobile negligence. His diverse practice also encompasses areas such as products liability, employment law, commercial litigation, premises liability, negligent security, medical malpractice, trucking and motor vehicle liability, governmental liability defense, and bad faith claims. 

As a Senior Associate for a South Florida law firm, Mr. Bernardo handled an active state civil litigation trial docket by representing Florida's largest property insurance company at trial, in court hearings, depositions, and other discovery proceedings. He also represented one of the largest U.S. commercial property and casualty insurance companies in federal court, specifically for the defense of claims arising under the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act and the Defense Base Act. 

Previously, Mr. Bernardo served as Assistant State Attorney for Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office. In this capacity, he prosecuted criminal violations within Florida's 11th Judicial Circuit's jurisdiction and managed a caseload of over 200 cases in trial and other court hearings, in addition to routinely drafting various motions and litigation pleadings. Gaining trial experience while in this role, has equipped him to navigate every stage of case management including investigations, filing, contacting, and preparing victims and witnesses for cases, discovery, trial, and sentencing.  

Mr. Bernardo obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Miami and went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law in 2016. During his time in law school, he distinguished himself as a member of the Moot Court Board and senior editor of the Seattle Journal for Social Justice. During law school, Mr. Bernardo served as judicial intern to Justice Mary I. Yu of the Washington State Supreme Court. 

He is licensed to practice law in the states of Florida and Washington.
