In her prior role, she touched all phases of medical malpractice and personal injury litigation, representing plaintiffs in claims involving obstetrical and neonatal care, childhood lead poisoning, motor vehicle accidents, and complex negligence matters. Earlier in her career, she served as trial counsel, where she refined her expertise in jury selection, motion practice, and trial advocacy.

She began her career with the Legal Services Corporation, representing clients across Harlem, the Bronx, and Brooklyn in civil litigation matters.

In addition to her litigation practice, Ms. Johnson-Pertet has lectured extensively for the New York State Trial Lawyers Association on topics including lead poisoning litigation, wrongful death, and premises liability. She is also a published author, contributing to the Birth Trauma Litigation Journal on neonatal encephalopathy and obstetrical malpractice issues.

Ms. Johnson-Pertet earned her Juris Doctor from Hofstra University School of Law in 1982 and her Bachelor of Arts from Ithaca College in 1979.
