Maya V. Thomas is a partner in the Chicago office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A.  She concentrates her practice in the defense of property and casualty matters in both federal and state courts.  Ms. Thomas' practice is emphasized in the areas of general civil litigation, insurance coverage and bad faith claims, premises liability, employment practices claims and general negligence cases. Ms. Thomas is recognized in Super Lawyers® Florida list of "Rising Stars" 2022 as a top-rated attorney in the area of civil litigation/defense.

Prior to joining QPWB, she was an associate with a Miami law firm specializing in insurance defense litigation.  She focused her practice in first-party property and casualty insurance defense litigation where she handled coverage disputes and perils associated with windstorm, fire, water and mold.  Previously, as a litigation attorney with a personal injury law firm in Fort Lauderdale, FL, she gained litigation, trial and appellate experience and served as chair-first attorney in a $3.5 million jury trial verdict in Lisa Foss v. Beadelle Sedillo, Broward County Circuit Court Case.

Ms. Thomas received her Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law in May 2012 and Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida in May 2009 graduating with a major in public relations.  While in law school, Ms. Thomas served as a certified legal intern at the Tenants' Rights Clinic where she successfully argued and won an appellate case: Kendrick v. Corser, 19 Fla. L. Weekly 72a (Fla. 11th Cir. Ct. Oct. 31, 2011). She also interned with the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office conducting hearings before General Magistrates and Child Support Enforcement Hearing Officers; and served with the Office of the Public Defender in Broward County, Florida.

Ms. Thomas is licensed to practice law in Illinois and Florida and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
