Melanie H. Melasky is an associate attorney at the New Orleans and Baton Rouge Hubs of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. She has extensive experience in automotive liability, business and commercial litigation, civil litigation, general litigation, insurance and insurers, negligent security, personal injury defense, premises liability, products liability, property damage, retail and hospitality, and wrongful death, and is highly skilled in workers' compensation and Longshore Harbor Workers' Compensation Act (LHWCA) defense.

Before joining QPWB, Ms. Melasky gained significant experience handling defense cases for a Fortune 500 company, particularly in premises and products liability, insurance defense claims, and workers' compensation claims. She has acted as the first chair defense handler in numerous cases, managing everything from preparing litigation strategies, and engaging in depositions, mediation, to motion practice.

Ms. Melasky's ability to analyze clients' exposure, develop defense and execute litigation strategies has been pivotal in her successful handling of a high caseload. She has secured numerous favorable summary judgments in favor of her clients, particularly for large retail corporations and manufacturers in premises and products liability claims. Her detail-oriented approach and persuasive writing skills, coupled with her strong oral advocacy and knowledge of appellate and civil procedure, is evidenced by her dedication to obtaining these favorable outcomes for her clients.

Her background includes serving as a law clerk to the Honorable Chief Judge Ulysses Gene Thibodeaux of the Louisiana Court of Appeal for the Third Circuit, as well as the Honorable Dale Atkins of the Louisiana Court of Appeal for the Fourth Circuit. While in law school, she was a judicial extern for Justice Greg G. Guidry of the Louisiana Supreme Court. During her clerkships, she gained valuable insight into the supervisory writ system and judicial decision-making, while furthering her commitment to research and writing.

Ms. Melasky spent her time during undergraduate and law school clerking for Innocence Project New Orleans, Capital Post Conviction Project of Louisiana, and the Federal Public Defender’s Office. During that time, she learned critical investigative skills and advocacy, which she has integrated into her civil litigation practice and appellate work.

In 2017, Ms. Melasky earned her Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School, following her Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University in 2015. During law school, she expanded her legal education by studying abroad for a summer in Greece.

Ms. Melasky is licensed to practice law in Louisiana and is admitted to the Supreme Court of the United States.
