Melanie H. Melasky is an associate attorney at the New Orleans Hub of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A She has extensive experience in automotive liability, business and commercial litigation, civil litigation, general litigation, insurance and insurers, negligent security, personal injury defense, premises liability, product liability, property damage, retail and hospitality, and wrongful death, and is highly skilled in workers' compensation and Longshore Harbor Workers' Compensation Act (LHWCA) defense.
Before joining QPWB, Ms. Melasky gained significant experience handling defense cases for a Fortune 500 company, particularly in premises and products liability, insurance defense claims, and workers' compensation claims. She has acted as the first chair defense handler in numerous cases, managing everything from settlement negotiations to depositions, and preparing litigation strategies.
Ms. Melasky's ability to analyze clients' exposure, develop defense strategies, and execute litigation plans has been pivotal in her successful handling of a high caseload. Her detail-oriented approach, coupled with her ability to argue complex pleadings and prepare comprehensive status reports, demonstrates her dedication to achieving favorable outcomes for her clients.
In 2017, Ms. Melasky earned her Juris Doctor and Civil Law Certificate from Tulane University Law School, following her Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University in 2015. During law school, she expanded her legal education by studying abroad for a summer in Rhodes, Greece, focusing on Maritime Law. Ms. Melasky was an active member of Tulane Moot Court Program, competing and coaching with the appellate team. Ms. Melasky was awarded The Order of Barristers Award for oral advocacy and brief writing, and the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Trial Advocacy.
Ms. Melasky is licensed to practice law in Louisiana and is admitted to the Supreme Court of the United States.
