Melinda Shabka is a partner in the Tampa office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. She practices insurance defense litigation, specifically in the areas of workers' compensation, general liability and first party property involving sinkhole and water loss. Additionally, Ms. Shabka's practice encompasses handling U.S. Longshore and Harbor Act and Defense Base Act Cases.
Ms. Shabka has tried numerous cases from both the defense and plaintiff perspective. Prior to joining QPWB, Ms. Shabka was an attorney with a Tampa law firm, defending workers' compensation and general liability disputes. Previously, she was managing attorney of a workers' compensation claims department at a Tampa law firm. Furthermore, Ms. Shabka is a Certified County Court Mediator, who also has experience in all aspects of residential real estate transactions and family law.
Ms. Shabka graduated summa cum laude from an accelerated joint degree program at St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida, receiving simultaneously her Juris Doctor and Master of Science in 2006. While in law school, she was editor of the St. Thomas University Human Rights Law Review, received the book award in Advance Legal Research and Writing and served as a Florida Supreme Court Certified Legal Intern. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Boston University in 2002.
Ms. Shabka is admitted to practice law in the state courts of Florida and New Jersey, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
