Sofia Yassin is a partner in the Los Angeles office at Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A., specializing in the defense of high-exposure, catastrophic personal injury cases. Ms. Yassin's practice also focuses on product liability, toxic torts, general negligence, business and commercial litigation, commercial contract disputes, breach of fiduciary duty, construction defect, and environmental litigation.
With over two decades of experience, Ms. Yassin has provided strategic guidance and legal counsel to clients across various defense matters. She actively engages in all phases of the litigation process, particularly pretrial pleading, and motion practice. This includes drafting and opposing demurrers, motions to strike, motions to compel, and motions for summary judgment. Notably, during her tenure as a Senior Staff Attorney, she supervised teams of staff attorneys in multi-year False Claim Act qui tam investigations of an international pharmaceutical company and government clients, navigating complex civil litigation cases involving product liability, false claims, and fraud actions.
Ms. Yassin possesses a unique skill set, enabling her to evaluate cases for both liability and potential exposure. This expertise is particularly evident in her work with international and government affairs. In 2001, when practicing with a Washington D.C. firm, she advised U.S. clients on compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and military procurement laws in various Middle East nations. Additionally, she drafted advisory opinions for a Middle East government entity on reforming domestic laws to comply with various World Trade Organization requirements.
In 1999, Ms. Yassin earned her Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law in Tacoma, WA, graduating in the top 3% of her class. Prior to law school, she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from California State University.
