R. Michael O'Donnell is a senior associate in the Fort Lauderdale hub of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. As a trial attorney specializing in workers' compensation defense, Mr. O'Donnell is skilled in guiding clients through the complexities of claims handling, from initial filing to closure by settlement or alternative disposition. Mike's practice focuses on early, cost-effective resolution strategies and the development of robust defenses in cases involving fraud. He has extensive experience handling trials in Florida's Division of Administrative Hearings for Workers' Compensation Claims, expertly managing lay and medical testimony on contentious issues, including entitlement to benefits and fraud investigations.
Before commencing private practice, Mr. O'Donnell served as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, handling asset forfeitures related to crimes under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). This role allowed him to build a strong foundation in litigation, prosecuting both misdemeanor and felony cases. His background as a prosecutor gives him a unique perspective in developing evidence-based strategies, particularly in cases where fraud is evident. Mr. O'Donnell earned his Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University in 1992. Before pursuing his legal career, he graduated from Stetson University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, where he laid the foundation for his analytical and strategic approach to legal challenges. A sought-after presenter and lecturer, Mr. O'Donnell has shared his expertise with esteemed organizations such as the American Inns of Court - Palm Beach County, where he presented in 2014.
Licensed to practice law in Florida, Mr. O'Donnell is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit of Hawaii. He is a member of the American Inns of Court and American Board of Trial Advocates, invitation only organizations where individuals must be invited by their peers to become a member.
