Robert J. Ruiz is a partner in the Orlando office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. He focuses on construction defect litigation cases and represents clients in the defense of construction lien disputes. He works closely with builders, contractors, suppliers and other parties to ensure the execution of construction lien laws and regulatory compliance. In the area of insurance defense, Mr. Ruiz handles general commercial litigation pertaining to first-party property insurance claims and coverage disputes and investigations; his practice includes sinkhole claims, premises liability and negligent security and commercial automobile liability.
Prior to joining QPWB, Mr. Ruiz was an associate attorney with a construction defect law firm in Orlando. He worked with panel counsel for multiple insurance carriers and litigated a diverse portfolio of construction defect claims and lien claims which included handling disputes ranging up to $15 million. Previously, he served as an assistant public defender with the Public Defender's Office of the 19th Judicial Circuit, managing all phases of the criminal justice process including participating in trials, sentencing, and appeals.
For over 10 years, Mr. Ruiz held multiple officer positions, including shareholder at Central Florida Excavation in Orlando. He utilized his construction industry knowledge to guide operations and focus on strategic, tactical and short-term operations management, driving on-time, in-budget framing, and the effective flow of company resources, evaluating project efficiency, success and profitability relating to equipment selection and labor resources.
Mr. Ruiz received his Juris Doctor from Barry University School of Law, Orlando, Florida in 2013 and Bachelor of Science from the University of Central Florida in 2009.
He is licensed to practice law in Florida and is a member of the Orange County Bar Association.
