S. Candice Shikai is a Partner in the Los Angeles Hub of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. Ms. Shikai has extensive experience representing clients through all stages of litigation, including pre-trial analysis, written discovery, depositions, and motion practice. She concentrates her practice on defending corporate clients in cases involving product liability, premises liability, and complex general liability matters.
Prior to joining QPWB, Ms. Shikai worked at law firms defending clients in diverse litigation matters. She also served as a Fellow with the Office of the Los Angeles City Attorney in the Business & Complex Civil Litigation Section. She has drafted and argued a variety of motions, including demurrers and motions for summary judgment, positioning her clients for successful case resolutions.
Earning her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2015, Ms. Shikai gained valuable experience through a judicial externship with the Honorable Jon S. Tigar in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Prior to law school, she graduated cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles, with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Philosophy.
Ms. Shikai is admitted to practice before all California Courts and in the U.S. District Court Central District of California.
Outside of her practice, Ms. Shikai is actively involved in both the legal and broader community. She holds leadership and membership roles in several professional organizations, including:
- Japanese American Bar Association (JABA) - Vice President, Board of Governors
- Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA) Litigation Section - Executive Committee, Communications Co-Chair
- Association of Southern California Defense Counsel (ASCDC) - Member
Committed to cultural preservation and leadership development, Ms. Shikai also serves as President of the Board of Directors for TAIKOPROJECT, is on the Board of Directors for the Little Tokyo Community Council, and is a Co-Chair of the Consul General of Japan's Next Generation Initiative Women and Diversity Subcommittee, organizations/efforts dedicated to promoting Japanese American heritage and fostering community engagement at home and abroad.
