Samantha L. Butler is a partner in the Scottsdale, Arizona office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood and Boyer, P.A., and has over 10 years of healthcare law and litigation experience.  Her practice includes the areas of medical malpractice defense, professional liability defense and the defense of catastrophic injury/wrongful death claims.

Ms. Butler’s experience includes representing medical professionals and medical entities in medical malpractice actions and before the Arizona Medical Board.  Prior to joining QPWB, Ms. Butler practiced with a Phoenix law office specializing in medical malpractice and personal injury where for many years she handled complex medical malpractice litigation from intake through settlement or trial.  Previously, she was an attorney with a Phoenix-founded healthcare defense law firm where in addition to her medical malpractice focus, she also handled healthcare transactional work and provided risk management services to physicians’ offices.

Ms. Butler is experienced in all phases of health care law and litigation. She has served as counsel at trial and has participated with negotiation of multi-million dollar settlements and health care provider and ERISA lien reductions.  She has counseled corporations and individual clients with regulatory compliance regarding HIPAA, EMTALA, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Law, Medicare and Medicaid billing, False Claims Act and other health care fraud and abuse issues.  She has also drafted and reviewed contracts, hospital bylaws, policies and procedures, and rules and regulations.

Ms. Butler received her Juris Doctor cum laude from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, Indianapolis in May 2006 and Bachelor of Arts from Purdue University, Indianapolis, Indiana in May 2002.  She graduated from law school with a concentration in Health Law.  Her undergraduate major at Purdue was in History.

Ms. Butler is licensed to practice law in Arizona.  She is a member of the State Bar of Arizona’s Trial Practice Section.
