Steve E. Baker is a partner in the Orlando office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. with a litigation practice focused on the defense of clients in matters involving complex administrative, civil, commercial and professional liability claims.  Prior to joining QPWB in 2007, Mr. Baker was founding partner of Romaguera, Baker, Dawson & Bringardner, P.A.

Mr. Baker's civil practice includes the defense of privately held and publicly traded corporations; public institutions and agencies; healthcare providers, hospitals, nurse staffing and home health agencies; skilled nursing and assisted living facilities; construction companies; commercial carriers and rental car companies; and insurance carriers and their insureds.  Mr. Baker has litigated hundreds of cases in the areas of medical and professional malpractice claims; skilled nursing and assisted living facility claims; roadway construction claims; general and premises liability claims with a focus on the Retail, Restaurant, and Hospitality industry; and automobile, personal injury, and wrongful death claims. 

A graduate of the University of Florida, Mr. Baker received his Bachelor of Science in 1992 and earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 1998.  While in law school, he was a member of the University of Florida Trial Team, The Chester Bedell American Inn of Court, a charter member of the Florida Law Toastmasters, and Florida Blue Key Honor Fraternity.  Mr. Baker achieved distinction in law school by attaining the Book Award in Trial Practice and being named in Who's Who Among American Law Students.

Mr. Baker was admitted to practice law in Florida in 1998 and has subsequently been admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.  He is a member of the Health Law and Trial Lawyers section of the Florida Bar.  He is also a member of the Orange County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Florida Chapter of the National Bar Association, the Paul C. Perkins Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, and the Florida Healthcare Association.

Mr. Baker is actively involved in various professional organizations including his current appointment to the Board of Directors for the National Association of Minority & Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF).  Mr. Baker has also served as treasurer for the National Bar Association Corporate Law Section.  Mr. Baker is certified by the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) in Advanced Maintenance of Traffic. 

In his community, Mr. Baker has served on the Board of Managers of the Wayne Densch YMCA Family Center, and is a member of the Winter Park Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.  Mr. Baker also serves on various advisory committees for skilled nursing facilities and frequently lectures to various groups, healthcare providers, and claims professionals on risk management issues and current litigation trends in Florida.
