Sebrina G. Blackburn is a partner in the Tampa office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. With a diverse practice spanning multiple areas of practice, Ms. Blackburn focuses her practice in the areas of first-party insurance defense, medical malpractice defense, intellectual property and internet law, aviation law, general litigation, and workers' compensation defense.
Throughout her career, Ms. Blackburn has represented insurance carriers and adjusters, as well as medical professionals, in first-party property damage claims and workers' compensation claims across the state of Florida. Prior to joining QPWB, she served as an associate general counsel for a property and casualty insurance company, where she skillfully represented insurance carriers in first-party property damage claims, participated as second chair in jury trials, and offered insightful counsel on legislative changes affecting the industry.
Ms. Blackburn has an impressive track record when handling medical malpractice defense cases for nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and hospitals, as well as bodily injury and casualty defense for national mail carriers. In addition to her proficiency in insurance-related matters, she possesses extensive experience in aviation law, internet law, and intellectual property cases.
As a legal consultant, Ms. Blackburn has undertaken various projects involving federal and state evidence and evidence rules. Her expertise extends to federal antitrust production and federal tax law litigation, as well as Homeowners Associations (HOAs), mortgages, foreclosures, and software development for foreclosure markets. In this capacity, she has analyzed complex litigation practices, anti-trust issues, international law matters, and class actions.
In the early stages of her legal career, Ms. Blackburn primarily focused on advising and litigating on behalf of small business clients. Her areas of practice included collections, consumer protection, quiet title, real estate, contracts, and incorporation. During this time, she also played a key role in client intake and firm administration at a two-attorney firm, gaining valuable insights into the business side of legal practice.
Ms. Blackburn earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Dayton School of Law in Dayton, Ohio, in 2003, and obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in political science and French from Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina, in 1998.
Ms. Blackburn is licensed to practice law in Florida and is admitted to the Florida Middle District.
