Shanice Hagood is an associate in the Columbia office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. Licensed to practice law exclusively in South Carolina, Ms. Hagood is a member of the firm's National Products Liability and Toxic Tort Practice Group. Her practice focuses primarily on toxic tort and product liability litigation, with a particular emphasis on asbestos litigation defense, toxic exposure claims, and other complex mass tort matters. She also has experience handling general civil litigation, business and commercial disputes, bankruptcy matters, and consumer warranty litigation, including the defense of automotive manufacturers in complex warranty and lemon law matters.
Prior to joining QPWB, Ms. Hagood served as a staff attorney at a national defense firm, where she managed extensive discovery dockets and developed litigation strategies to safeguard corporate clients against high-exposure warranty claims. Her litigation background includes defending automotive manufacturers in complex consumer warranty and lemon law matters and handling a broad range of commercial litigation issues. She has experience managing all phases of litigation, including written discovery, depositions, motion practice, and case strategy development.
Ms. Hagood possesses deep judicial and public sector insights, having served as a double judicial law clerk in the South Carolina Administrative Law Court. From 2022 to 2024, she clerked for both the Honorable Shirley Canty Robinson and the Honorable Crystal M. Rookard, gaining comprehensive exposure to administrative procedures, evidentiary standards, and judicial decision-making. Her background is further enhanced by her time as a judicial intern to the Honorable Gershwin Drain at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and her service as a certified mediator for Southeastern Dispute Resolution Services.
Dedicated to public service, Ms. Hagood has maintained an active commitment to pro bono legal services. In recognition of these efforts, she was named a 2025 ABA Free Legal Answers Pro Bono Leader by the American Bar Association.
In 2022, Ms. Hagood earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. She completed her undergraduate studies at Wayne State University in 2018, earning her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. While at Wayne State, she was a student-athlete, balancing the demands of collegiate athletics with her academic pursuits.
She is licensed to practice law in South Carolina and is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of South Carolina.
