Stefan Richard "Rick" Hughes is a partner in the Nashville hub of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A., with 30 years of experience in complex civil litigation. He represents businesses, employers, and individuals with a proven record of success in case dismissals, mediation, arbitration, and jury trials. Mr. Hughes' extensive trial experience includes defending motor vehicle, premises liability, and product liability cases. His practice also encompasses counseling insurers and businesses on insurance coverage issues and preparing comprehensive opinion letters.
In 1990, Mr. Hughes attended Transylvania University, graduating summa cum laude, to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, and his Juris Doctor from the J. David Rosenberg College of Law at the University of Kentucky where he was a member of the Journal of Natural Resources and Environmental Law. He has been published in the journal for his work, Cumberland Reclamation Co. v. United States: Defining Coal Dredging as Surface Mining under SMCRA, and has delivered seminars to healthcare professionals on compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

A graduate of Leadership Bowling Green, Mr. Hughes has served on the boards of Kids on the Block, the Kentucky Library & Museum at Western Kentucky University, and Plum Tree Montessori School, where he also served as President. He is a member of the Mid-Century Literary Club. Born in Wuerzburg, Germany, Mr. Hughes holds dual citizenship in the United States and Germany. Fluent in German, he is an avid gardener, cook, and hiker, with trekking adventures across the United States, the Alps, and other parts of Europe.
