Before joining QPWB, Mr. Cardio served as a workers' compensation attorney at a prominent law firm in New York, where he gained experience handling trials, hearings, and depositions. He was responsible for reviewing medical reports, drafting appeals, rebuttals, and summations, ensuring that his clients' interests were effectively represented.
Prior to his work as a workers' compensation attorney, Mr. Cardio held the position of attorney advisor at the United States Small Business Administration in the Office of Disaster Assistance (ODA). In this role, he played a crucial part in ensuring compliance with legal eligibility and authority to incur debt for borrowers. He expertly drafted loan authorizations, addressing inquiries and concerns related to legal issues surrounding loan closings, as well as providing guidance on the legal basis of various terms, conditions, and requirements.
Mr. Cardio's diverse legal background includes serving as a member of the Administrative Enforcement Unit (AEU) for the New York City Department of Buildings. In this role, he prosecuted summonses and violations issued by inspectors before the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH) tribunals across all five boroughs. Mr. Cardio conducted in-depth research on case and statutory law pertaining to the NYC Building Code, NYC Construction Code, NYC Administrative Code, and the NYC Zoning Resolution. Additionally, he successfully appealed adverse decisions to the OATH Appeals Board, effectively advocating for his clients' interests.
In 2019, Mr. Cardio earned his Juris Doctor from the City University of New York (Cuny) School of Law. He previously obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Seton Hall University in 2015.
