Sy W. Lam is an associate in the Miami Hub of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A., specializing in third-party insurance litigation. Mr. Lam has experience handling complex insurance matters involving coverage disputes, bad faith claims, and policy interpretation. He has prepared and argued a range of substantive motions, including motions in limine, motions to dismiss, and motions for summary judgment, in both state and federal courts.
Bringing prior experience from an insurance litigation firm, Mr. Lam developed a strong foundation in claims resolution by drafting responses to tender denials that often avoided litigation altogether. He also conducted mock Examinations Under Oath, analyzed high-volume policy records, and contributed to case strategy through in-depth research.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Lam interned with the Miami Dade State Attorney's Office in the Felony Unit II - Victims and Witness Department. He assisted in coordinating witness schedules, connecting victims with available resources, and preparing them for courtroom appearances in collaboration with Assistant State Attorneys and victim advocates.
Mr. Lam began his academic journey at the University of Miami, where he earned a B.B.A. in Legal Studies with a minor in Political Science. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law, where he was a Dean's Merit Scholar, co-chaired the Insurance Law Society, and participated in the Zurich Exchange Program.
Licensed to practice law in Florida, Mr. Lam is fluent in Spanish and conversational in Jamaican Patois.
