Tad Devlin is a partner in the San Francisco Bay office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. Recognized as a practical, business-minded problem solver, he emphasizes achieving efficient, commercially viable results that align with his clients' broader organizational goals. A seasoned trial attorney with nearly 30 years of experience, Mr. Devlin specializes in complex civil litigation, focusing on professional liability, insurance coverage and bad faith, ERISA/Life-Health-Disability, real estate, and employment law.
Throughout his career, Mr. Devlin has served as lead trial counsel in state and federal courts for major insurers, corporations, and individuals. His professional background is defined by extensive first-chair trial experience, including a recent five-week jury trial involving complex representations and warranties policy coverage. Since 2002, he has served in leadership roles as a partner, including tenure as a Managing Partner at a national defense firm. He brings deep expertise in coordinating complex defense strategies and managing all phases of high-value commercial disputes, including class actions, Private Attorney General Act (PAGA) claims, and fiduciary liability matters involving ERISA and Life-Health-Disability claims.
Before entering private practice, Mr. Devlin served as a felony prosecutor with the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office. During his tenure as a prosecutor, he gained extensive first-chair trial work, providing a foundational background in courtroom advocacy that he now applies to defending sophisticated civil disputes and white-collar government defense matters.
Mr. Devlin earned his Juris Doctor, with honors, from the University of the Pacific - McGeorge School of Law in 1997 and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of California, Davis.
He is licensed to practice law in California and is admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, as well as the U.S. District Courts and U.S. Bankruptcy District Courts of California.
