“Pride is recognition. Pride is celebration. Pride is acknowledgement. Pride is hope.” -Trelvis D Randolph
It’s all about Different. This is the catchphrase found in every article, post, brochure, and statement that we make as a firm. Different could mean a lot of things in the context in which we use it. How we approach our cases. Who we represent. Who we are. This June, Different also means that we have Pride.
Pride is a very complex holiday for those of us who are LGBTQ+. Pride is loud and colorful and full of joy, yet also a time for remembrance, and a reminder of the work that has yet to be done. At QPWB, we are incredibly honored to provide a safe and welcoming community for our employees and clients who are LGBTQ+, and thankful to all of our diverse Difference-Makers who have made our organization a success.
Trelvis D. Randolph, Chair of the SAVE Foundation, the largest LGBTQ + civil rights organization in Miami-Dade County, has been a legal powerhouse and advocate during his time as Partner at QPWB’s Miami-hub.
“I have seen first-hand how much of an impact the month of Pride has on the community. For those in the community who feel overlooked, left out or marginalized, it is time for acknowledgement that they are not alone. Pride is a declaration from the community that there is no shame in being who you are. It is an opportunity for the community to let those LGBTQ+ members know that there are spaces where they are welcomed and that their contributions are valued. When the community is willing to open itself up to the rich diversity of the landscape and provide safe spaces where people are valued for their contributions, then this is something that we celebrate. QPWB has been a year-round ally of the LGBTQ+ community both on the local and national landscape.”
Pride Month has its roots in the Stonewall Riots of June 1969, a series of spontaneous demonstrations by members of the gay community in response to a police raid at the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in New York City. This event marked a turning point in the LGBTQ+ rights movement in the United States and inspired activists worldwide. The first Pride March took place on June 28, 1970, commemorating the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. Since then, June has been designated as Pride Month, a time to honor the progress made and to continue the fight for equality.
Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. is proud to be a minority owned firm. We pride ourselves on creating a diverse team of professionals and support staff. QPWB believes to be silent is to be complicit. Therefore, we take a truly clear stand on which side of history we are on. We stand against racism in all its forms, whether overt or institutional. We stand for inclusion of all groups including those of different ethnicities, faiths, sexualities, and gender identities. We stand with all our employees and embrace the diversity of our firm as a representation of our nation. We stand with all who are united against hate and division in the legal system and in society.
► QPWB stands for equality. ► QPWB stands for justice. ► Stand with us.
