SUMMARY JUDGMENT GRANTED TO QPWB’S NEW ORLEANS DEFENSE TEAM

Insurance covering students participating in athletics and sports

Linda E. Gonzales

Pamela W. Carter

NEW ORLEANS ― Pamela W. Carter, managing partner of the Louisiana office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A., and associate, Linda E. Gonzales, were granted a Motion for Summary Judgment in a case arising from a private school sporting event on the basis that the alleged injury from the event was noncontact and therefore no coverage was provided under the policy. Judge Jason Degate agreed and found, as a matter of law, a basis for granting summary judgment. The ruling refused Plaintiff’s argument that the policy was contrary to La. R.S. 17:169 and against public policy.
