This holiday season, our QPWB demonstrated the true spirit of our call to Lawyer Differently® in an extraordinary way. Spearheaded by Orlando Hub Partner, Jeanine-Marie Anty, the "Adopt a Child Holiday Drive" turned into a nationwide movement of generosity and unity.
Jeanine-Marie's initiative transcended jurisdictional boundaries, galvanizing contributions from Orlando, Chicago, Atlanta, Arizona, Los Angeles, Miami, Charlotte Hubs and more. This collective effort not only brought joy to many underprivileged children and their families but also united our far-reaching hubs under a common cause – making a tangible difference in the communities we serve.
“Homelessness is just a big and sensitive subject for me. Seeing kids go through the holidays and their parents don't know how they're going to feed them much less provide for them during the Holidays, so this was just very important to me,” said Anty.
This year, the need was particularly great. The children focused on were part of the Devereux Foster Care System or are currently experiencing homelessness, living in shelters, or in transitional housing. Our firm rose to the occasion, meeting and even surpassing this need.
Together, we fulfilled the holiday wish lists of 46 children, including three who entered foster care late in the season. Beyond individual gifts, our collective effort enabled us to donate extra gifts to the Devereux Foster Care System and provide $1,225 in gift cards for holiday meals for these families.
The heartwarming response encompassed more than just donations. Our team members adopted children's wish lists, filled gaps with their contributions, donated wrapping supplies, and even assembled bikes. The packing and transportation of gifts were another testament to our team's dedication and our community’s involvement.
This initiative reflects our commitment to 'Lawyer Differently.' It's not just about legal expertise; it’s about compassion, community involvement, and making a real difference. The success of this drive is a shining example of how when we come together, our impact can be profound and far-reaching.
“There are so many people who helped. I even got help from the outside community and had some of my friends building bikes, because there were just so many,” said Ms. Anty. “I got so much help just in executing it so it's hard to narrow down one specific person in the office because there was just so much.”
We extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated. Your generosity has not only brightened the holidays for many children and families but has also strengthened the bonds within our firm. As we look forward to future initiatives, this holiday drive will remain a milestone in our journey to Lawyer Differently®, a journey marked by empathy, unity, and the willingness to go above and beyond in serving others through a higher standard of caring.
